Hi everyone! My name is Kirby, and I am the Centre Manager here at The Hive Torquay.
I’ve recently moved back to Victoria from my hometown of Darwin, NT, and I’m so excited to be part of this wonderful community. I bring with me over 18 years of experience in the early childhood sector. Before joining The Hive, I spent five years at my previous service, where I progressed from Room Leader to Director.
I believe in a holistic approach to early childhood education and understand that every child learns in their own unique way. My goal is to create a warm, welcoming, and play-based environment where all children feel safe, supported, and inspired to learn and grow. I’m passionate about building strong relationships with families and supporting our team of educators to provide the very best care and education. The Hive Early Learning Centre Torquay has been fabulous for my nearly 2 year old daughter. The staff are friendly, caring and attentive. Michelle the centre manager always replies promptly to any emails and is extremely helpful. Communication is always consistent and interesting with both written updates and verbal chats on pick up. I would highly recommend sending your child here.
Our daughter has been at The Hive Torquay for over 12 months, and we could not fault a thing. She loves going to daycare so much and gets excited the moment we get there every morning. We can not thank the team enough for continuing to help her grow into the confident young girl she is.
We absolutely love The Hive (Torquay) and so does our son! From the moment we first visited, we felt confident that this was a warm, safe, and nurturing environment. The staff are incredibly caring, attentive, and always greet us with smiles. We’ve seen our son grow socially and emotionally in such a short time, and it’s clear he’s thriving here. We couldn’t be happier with the Hive Torquay. Our son started in the Nursery and has grown into a cheery, confident toddler through positive experiences created with the carers and peers at Hive. Thanks team for fostering such an inclusive and kind culture for the children. 🩷
We were very lucky to get a spot at The hive last year for my daughter when she was 2.5. It was her first time in daycare and we were very lucky that she had the carers she did! They supported her through the transition and reassured us as parents that she was settling in and we knew they were able to give her what she needed emotionally and developmentally! She is now in the kinder room with a new set of carers/teachers and they’re also amazing with her and care for her! All the carers have their own personalities which is great but you can see that they care for the kids! The manager Michelle also is running the place great - you see her doing multiple things and filling in the rooms to help out where she needs and she also has a great relationship with the kiddos! Huge thanks to Kristy, Emma, Hannah, Amber (who is no longer there), Bec, Adele who helped care for our daughter last year and thank you to our current carers for our daughter Nitesh, Rofi and Muhammed!! I’m a nurse and I don’t know how they do it 😆
We have loved our experience with The Hive Torquay. Our two year old was new to daycare this year. The staff at the Hive have really taken her under their wing and developed a relationship with her, and us, as her parents. This has made the transition a lot easier, as everyday she is welcomed with smiling faces and fun activities. The daily feedback, communication and photographs have been so reassuring and informative. Thankyou to all the staff at The Hive.

My daughter loves going to daycare every day, and I have peace of mind knowing she is in good hands. The Hive have been incredible for our two daughters. Each educator that they have had throughout their journey have been warm, caring and worked hard to get to know them and their interests to help support them everyday. My two girls have both thrived during their time at The Hive. They’ve built great relationships with the educators & their classmates. Their Dad & I love getting the written updates & in person ones at pick-up. We feel like the staff make efforts to know the kids as individuals and we enjoy watching their interactions. I highly recommend The Hive.
The Hive has been an incredible place for my son in his first year. He is absolutely thriving thanks to the amazing support and care of the educators, and to Michelle for creating such a safe happy space for him. This centre is fantastic. I always feel comfortable leaving my child here while I go to work. The educators and staff are lovely and kind, and I receive updates throughout the day. They always take the time to chat with me about my son when I pick him up.
My son has attended The Hive in Torquay since he was 10 months old (currently 15 months) and we adore all of the staff, especially the nursery team (Sophie, Bek and previously Hannah). I was so anxious before my son started because he refused bottles and had never been put down for a nap by anyone other than myself or my husband. The team were incredible at respecting all of my wishes and supporting his transition almost seamlessly. Michelle (the manager) also has the most incredible communication skills. So glad that they’re part of our village now.
We couldn’t rate the Hive more highly! Our daughter is very shy and takes time to create connections, so we were nervous about her starting daycare. It is such a relief as a working mum that she happily runs into daycare and is so excited to see her educators. During our 12 months at the Hive, staff change over has been very little, which shows staff are happy and the children are feeling safe with familiar faces. Communication is always amazing and staff are super friendly. Our daughter is always coming home singing new songs and talking about her day. Thanks Michelle and staff for the environment and community you have created at the Hive.
All the teachers and carers are amazing and really care for the children. They always go the extra mile to make sure the kids feel safe and important. They make great connections with the children. They also ofer lots of engaging activities and experiences. My little boy loves his teachers and his time a daycare with all his friends.
The educators at The Hive are consistently wonderful, and I always feel reassured leaving my boy in their care. Their genuine warmth and professionalism stand out, making each drop-off a breeze. I particularly appreciate the detailed reports they write and the photos they send throughout the day. These updates not only keep me informed about my boy’s activities and progress but also bring a smile to my face. The thoughtful communication and evident care taken by the team has made returning to work much easier. Highly recommended!
Lovely staff, very communicative and warm. Boris the blue tongue lizard at the centres entry is my toddlers favourite.

If I could give a million stars, i would! The Hive Torquay isn't just about the kids, they are also about the parents/families. Every staff member values and cherishes the parents/families too. There have been many times that I’ve dropped the kids off, not looking myself and through care and concern, a staff member has taken me aside to check in. It’s heartwarming to know that these are the same people I trust with my children every single day. If you’re looking for a home away from home, The Hive Torquay is the place you want to be. Highly recommend.
My children have been at The Hive for over three years and have enjoyed every single part of the learning experience there. The educators are always kind and caring towards the children, and I particularly love that we get regular updates throughout the day and also at the end of the day, the educators are happy to greet you with a smile and tell you how your child’s day has been. My son attends the kinder room with Niteesh, Rofi and Mohammad they are an amazing group of educators and my son has thrived since attending the Hive. Such a beautiful atmosphere.
Absolutely blown away with the care and personalised support offered to my little one. Always provides updates and communication on how the kiddo is going day-to-day and also developmentally over time.

As a first time Mum, I was quite apprehensive at sending my baby boy to daycare when I was due to return to work. From the moment I spoke to Michelle the Director on the phone to book in the tour, my apprehension started to fade. The centre is new and spotlessly clean. Every single one of the educators are friendly, attentive and I trust them all implicitly. My son has thrived at The Hive and I cannot recommend Michelle and the team more highly.
Fantastic centre - our daughter is in the pre-Kinder room and loves it. The educators are kind, friendly, and very on the ball. Even though we’re only 1 day a week at the moment, they’ve built a great relationship with our daughter and can always give me an update on her day or how she’s going when I pick her up. Admin & centre manager super helpful and responsive as well
We have been attending The Hive Early Learning Centre Torquay for almost 3 years and dread the day we leave. The staff communicates well, treat our children like their own and are always approachable and friendly. We have seen some of our favourites leave and new favourite arrive. The kinder educator, Niteesh and Toddler educator, Sophie are absolutely outstanding. Their centre manager, Michelle never drops the ball!!! She is supportive, understanding and so lovely. I have had my fair share of tough times and Michelle and Jo (Accounts) have supported me through it. Something I am super grateful for. All staff communicate really well, and I never feel like I'm not across anything. If ever any gaps appear, the team at Torquay are always well receiving and happy to implement any requests or changes. I personally would love more information in the kid's daily reports, something more tailored to each child, however, I know how much they already do on the daily, so I don't expect it. I also get clear updates whenever I can engage in conversation with the educator. This place has come a long, long way and I couldn't recommend them enough!!! We love You the Hive Torquay.
Our family have been searching for that "special something" in an ELC & the staff taking care of our 3 busy children for a long while, We are home now at the Hive Torquay & gee it feels good! Happy kids, phenomenal staff & gorgeous surroundings! We are so very lucky to have the most thoughtful & caring team looking after our babes. Thanks team!
